As part of Sarantis Group’s expansion to meet growing market demand for its leading sun care brand Carroten, Packfeeder played a key role in delivering a high-performance flexible bottle unscrambling solution. The new line, designed to handle 12 different Carroten products, required exceptional flexibility and precision. Especially in the initial stages of bottle sorting and handling.
With over 60 years of experience, Sarantis is a multinational consumer goods company. Based in Athens, Greece, it has a strong presence across Europe, the Middle East, Australia, and the US. Carroten, its flagship sun protection brand, is known for its wide range of products tailored to different skin types, ages, and application needs.
Already in 2020 Packfeeder delivered a robotic bottle unscrambler to this Greek manufacturer as part of its new line for the production of cosmetics and personal care brands. That machine was installed and serviced year after year until the customer decided to build a new line including again a ultra-flexible robot bottle sorter to handle their present and future needs.

Flexible Bottle Unscrambling for Complex Formats
Packfeeder’s advanced bottle unscrambling systems were essential to the success of this new project, especially given the market and challenging needs of the customer. The Carroten portfolio includes a variety of bottle shapes and sizes, each contributing to shelf appeal and brand identity. To ensure smooth and accurate processing of the empty bottles, Packfeeder provides a flexible bottle unscrambling solution capable of handling at the required speed and with robustness:
- Multiple bottle formats with varying geometries including asymmetric bottles. An orienting system is required for these products to ensure they are all heading towards the filling machine in the same position inside the puck.
- Quick format changeovers to support frequent batch switches being done in a very few minutes (SMED) or even without changing any part in some cases.
- Gentle handling to preserve packaging integrity and aesthetics, to make sure that the appearance of such products on the shelves is optimal.
Our bottle sorting technology ensures that each bottle is correctly oriented and seamlessly transferred to the filling and capping modules inserted into transport pucks, enabling uninterrupted production and minimizing downtime.

Seamless Integration with High-End Packaging Line
The bottle unscrambling system is integrated into a compact monobloc solution contributing to ensure that the upstream bottle sorting matches the precision and hygiene standards required throughout the line, including compatibility with Clean-in-Place (CIP) systems for validated cleaning processes.
As with any complete line project, our engineers played an important role in the discussions about the line layout and machines distribution along the available productive area. Thus as the entry point to the line, the placement and ergonomics of the bottle unscrambler are always critical aspects to consider when planning a new packaging line.

A Trusted Partner for Scalable Packaging Solutions
We are proud to support Sarantis in this strategic expansion. And, to contribute to the continued success of Carroten in international markets. This project highlights Packfeeder’s commitment to innovation, adaptability, and customer-focused engineering.
